Video over Wireless in
Healthcare
Wireless networks are
an excellent means of transporting various types of video in healthcare,
providing mobility, flexibility, rapid deployment and leveraging
wireless network investment.
Wireless LANs can provide a rapid way to connect to local video
surveillance cameras and eliminate the requirement for wiring and
limitations of traditional wired cameras.
Point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and mesh wireless networks can
transport video from remote locations which can not economically be
reached through traditional leased or dedicated circuits.
Wireless networks can also support connectivity for videoconferencing
applications where mobility is required. Azure has proven
experience in mobile videoconferencing for telemedicine consultations
for the diagnosis of suspected stroke victims and has tested wireless
videoconferencing with the world's leading videoconferencing systems
suppliers.
